About Me

I am an elementary music specialist in the Dallas, TX area. Before moving to Texas, I taught middle school band (5-8th grade) in the Vandalia-Butler City School District in Vandalia, Ohio. I also directed a handbell choir. From 2005-2012, I taught at K-4 general music at Helke Elementary, where I built a strong Kodály-inspired program for my students.

I received my Bachelor's Degrees from The Ohio State University in Music Education (BME) and Orchestral Performance - Flute (BM). In 2014, I graduated from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI with my Master's Degree in Kodály Music Education where I studied with Sr. Lorna Zemke, DMA. I also completed my Kodály Certificate at Silver Lake in 2011.

I am an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Texas Music Education Association (TMEA), and Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE).

I am a former member of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). As a member of OMEA, I served on the General Music Committee. I look to actively integrate educational technology resources into my classes and at OMEA in January 2011 presented on the use of Interactive Response Systems (clickers) in the general music classroom.

  1. I visited Dallas for the OAKE Convention several years back! That was a great trip. Kodaly revolutionized my teaching.
